Workshop Structure

Our workshops run for one full day, covering technical, financial, and administrative aspects of residential solar installations.

Morning Session: Technical Fundamentals

  • How Solar Systems Work Understanding photovoltaic technology, how panels generate electricity, the role of inverters, and how grid-connected systems interact with utility infrastructure. We explain the difference between grid-tied and off-grid systems and why most residential installations connect to the grid.
  • System Sizing Principles How to calculate appropriate system size based on your actual electricity consumption rather than maximum roof capacity. We teach you to analyze your electricity bills, understand consumption patterns, and determine how much solar capacity makes sense for your usage.
  • Location and Orientation Factors How panel orientation, roof pitch, shading, and geographic location affect energy production. We cover why south-facing installations typically perform better in Spain and how to evaluate whether your roof is suitable for solar.
  • Component Quality and Specifications Understanding panel efficiency ratings, inverter types, mounting systems, and monitoring equipment. We explain what specifications matter for long-term performance and what's primarily marketing language.

Afternoon Session: Financial and Administrative Aspects

  • Reading Installer Proposals How to evaluate quotes from solar installers, compare proposals on equal terms, identify what's included versus optional, and recognize common proposal structures. We review actual anonymized proposals to demonstrate evaluation methods.
  • Financial Calculations How to calculate payback periods, understand surplus compensation mechanisms, evaluate financing options, and determine whether solar makes economic sense for your situation. We cover realistic expectations rather than optimistic projections.
  • Surplus Compensation System How the Spanish surplus compensation system works, what rates you receive for excess energy, how compensation appears on electricity bills, and how to calculate whether surplus compensation improves project economics.
  • Administrative Procedures Required documentation for utility companies, connection procedures, compensation registration, and navigating the bureaucratic requirements. We explain the timeline and what to expect at each step.
  • Evaluating Installers Questions to ask potential installers, how to verify experience and credentials, understanding installation timelines, recognizing red flags in proposals, and what to expect during and after installation.

What Makes Our Approach Different

We focus on education rather than sales, helping you make informed decisions independently.

No Sales Objectives

We don't sell solar panels or have partnerships with installers. Our only objective is teaching you to evaluate solar proposals independently. We have no financial interest in whether you proceed with solar or which installer you choose.

Realistic Expectations

We discuss both advantages and limitations of solar installations. You'll learn when solar makes financial sense and when it doesn't, rather than receiving optimistic projections designed to encourage purchases.

Practical Knowledge

Workshop content focuses on actionable information you can apply when evaluating your own solar project. We use real examples and actual proposals to demonstrate concepts rather than abstract theory.

Independent Evaluation

You'll leave with the knowledge to evaluate installers and proposals on your own terms. We teach you what questions to ask, what specifications matter, and how to compare proposals objectively.

Who Should Attend

These workshops are designed for homeowners considering solar installations who want to make informed decisions.

Homeowners Researching Solar

If you're considering solar but want to understand how it works before receiving installer proposals, this workshop provides the foundation you need to evaluate options intelligently.

Those Reviewing Proposals

If you've received quotes from installers but aren't sure how to evaluate them or what questions to ask, the workshop teaches you to compare proposals and identify what matters.

Anyone Wanting Independent Information

If you want to learn about solar from a source without sales objectives, our workshops provide technical and financial education without pressure to purchase.
